What Sunrun Inc. does
In the company’s own words
Sunrun Inc. (Nasdaq: RUN) designs, develops, installs, sells, owns and maintains residential solar and energy storage systems in the United States, primarily for homeowners, and also serves commercial developers through multifamily and new-home offerings. Most customers receive solar power through 20- or 25-year leases or power purchase agreements, typically with no upfront cost; Sunrun monitors, maintains and insures the systems during the contract term. Customers can also buy systems outright, and battery storage is available in select markets. The company reaches customers through direct sales, energy system partners and strategic partnerships, and provides software and operational support to its partner network. Sunrun’s business includes both systems it retains and systems sold to third-party investors. Its acquisition of Vivint Solar in 2020 expanded its operations. At December 31, 2025, Sunrun reported 8,404 megawatts of cumulative networked solar energy capacity and approximately 9,059 full-time employees. Its website is www.sunrun.com.
