What TECHPRECISION CORP does
In the company’s own words
TechPrecision Corporation (NASDAQ: TECH) operates as a manufacturer of precision, large-scale fabricated and machined metal structural components and systems serving the defense and precision industrial markets. The company's website is www.techprecision.com.
The company operates through two wholly owned subsidiaries that function as reportable segments: Ranor and Stadco. Ranor, acquired in 2006 and tracing its origins to 1956, operates a 145,000 square foot facility on approximately 65 acres in Westminster, Massachusetts. Stadco, acquired in August 2021, operates a 183,000 square foot multi-building complex in Los Angeles, California. Together, these segments provide comprehensive manufacturing solutions including custom fabrication, precision machining, assembly, integration, inspection, non-destructive evaluation, and testing services.
TechPrecision's business model centers on build-to-print manufacturing where the company produces components according to customer specifications rather than designing proprietary products. The company primarily targets repeating custom programs with mature designs, supplemented by multi-unit and one-off requirements. Both subsidiaries maintain certifications including ISO 9001:2015, with Stadco additionally holding AS 9100 D certification and NADCAP non-destructive testing certification. Both operations are ITAR-registered and compliant.
The company derives approximately 99 percent of revenue from the defense sector, with the remaining one percent from precision industrial customers. Defense revenue is generated through contracts with prime contractors and subcontractors involved in U.S. Navy submarine programs, aircraft carriers, military helicopters, and various aerospace platforms. As of March 31, 2026, TechPrecision employed 160 full-time employees across both facilities, with 28 salaried and 64 hourly employees at Ranor and 17 salaried and 51 hourly employees at Stadco. The company maintains no unionized workforce.
TechPrecision's backlog totaled $52.2 million as of March 31, 2026, expected to be fulfilled over the subsequent two to three fiscal years. The company's customer base remains concentrated, with the ten largest customers generating 92 percent of fiscal 2026 revenue. All manufacturing operations and customers are located within the United States.
