What TELEFLEX INC does
In the company’s own words
Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE: TFX) is a global provider of medical technology products designed to enhance clinical benefits, improve patient and provider safety, and reduce total procedural costs. The company's website is www.teleflex.com.
Founded in 1943 as a manufacturer of precision mechanical controls for military aircraft, Teleflex has evolved into an exclusively medical device company following a strategic transformation that divested all non-medical businesses by 2011. The company designs, develops, manufactures, and supplies single-use medical devices used by hospitals and healthcare providers for common diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in critical care and surgical applications.
Teleflex operates through three reportable geographic segments: Americas, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), and Asia Pacific. The company's product portfolio spans three primary categories within its continuing operations. Vascular and Emergency Medicine products include Arrow-branded catheters, catheter navigation systems, intraosseous access systems, and hemostatic products. Interventional products comprise coronary catheters, structural heart support devices, and peripheral intervention platforms, enhanced by the June 2025 acquisition of BIOTRONIK's Vascular Intervention business. Surgical products include ligating clips, fascial closure systems, and specialized instruments under brands including Weck, MiniLap, Pleur-Evac, and Deknatel.
As of December 31, 2025, Teleflex employed approximately 15,500 people across 38 countries, with significant manufacturing operations in the Czech Republic, Malaysia, Mexico, and the United States. The global supply chain workforce comprises 59 percent of total employees, while commercial operations represent 23 percent, with the remainder in corporate functions.
In December 2025, Teleflex announced strategic divestitures expected to close in the second half of 2026, including the sale of its Acute Care and Interventional Urology businesses to Intersurgical Ltd and its OEM business to Montagu and Kohlberg for combined consideration of approximately $2.0 billion. The company markets and sells products directly to hospitals and healthcare providers through its own sales force and distributor networks worldwide. Teleflex's competitive advantages include research and development capabilities, engineering excellence, low-cost manufacturing, and a portfolio of primarily Class I and Class II medical devices requiring FDA 510(k) clearance.
