Tenax employs a distinctive strategy of repurposing already-approved drugs with well-established safety profiles spanning more than two decades of global use. The company's prioritized product candidate is oral levosimendag (TNX-103), a first-in-class K-ATP activator and calcium sensitizer originally developed for intravenous use in acutely decompensated heart failure. Levosimendag has received market authorization in 60 countries and has been administered to an estimated 2.2 million patients worldwide. The company is actively conducting two Phase 3 clinical trials, LEVEL and LEVEL-2, to evaluate levosimendag for treating pulmonary hypertension in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (PH-HFpEF), a condition affecting more than 1.5 million Americans for which no therapies are currently approved.
