What Terrestrial Energy Inc. does

In the company’s own words

Terrestrial Energy Inc., trading under the ticker symbol on its respective exchange, operates as an advanced nuclear technology company focused on developing and commercializing the Integral Molten Salt Reactor nuclear plant, or IMSR Plant. The company's website is located at terrestrialenergy.com. Founded in 2013, Terrestrial Energy completed a business combination with HCM II Acquisition Corp. in October 2025, becoming a publicly traded entity.

The IMSR Plant represents a Generation IV reactor technology utilizing molten salt as both nuclear fuel and reactor coolant, distinguishing it from legacy light water reactor designs. This technology enables high-temperature operation at approximately 585 degrees Celsius with low pressure and inherent safety characteristics, making it suitable for both electricity generation and industrial thermal applications. The company's IMSR Plant design produces 822 megawatts of thermal output, capable of generating 390 megawatts of net electricity when configured for power generation.

Terrestrial Energy's business model centers on providing engineering services, component supply, and fuel supply across the full lifecycle of IMSR Plant projects rather than owning or operating plants directly. The company anticipates revenue from four principal streams: pre-construction services, construction services and component supply, post-construction IMSR Core-unit supply, and post-construction fuel supply. The IMSR Plant's 56-year operating life and periodic core replacement cycles every seven years create recurring revenue opportunities spanning multiple decades per installation.

The company maintains a workforce of approximately 80 employees, including 29 with advanced degrees in engineering and science, supported by a management team with over 170 years of cumulative nuclear and energy industry experience. Terrestrial Energy has established partnerships with major industrial players and research institutions, including Texas A&M University, and maintains a pipeline of over ten early-stage IMSR Plant projects across various industrial sectors including mining, chemical production, data centers, and grid power provision.

The company uses standard-assay low enriched uranium fuel rather than high-assay alternatives, positioning it favorably within existing nuclear supply chains. Terrestrial Energy received selection into the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Pilot Program in August 2025, targeting first commercial operations during 2034 subject to regulatory approval and financing.
