In the company’s own words
TuHURA Biosciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: TUHURA) is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company focused on developing novel therapeutics designed to overcome primary and acquired resistance to cancer immunotherapies. The company operates through three distinct technology platforms targeting different mechanisms of tumor immune evasion.
The company's lead program centers on its proprietary Immune FxTM technology platform, an innate immune agonist designed to make tumor cells appear foreign to the immune system by expressing immunogenic bacterial proteins on their surface. IFx-2.0, the lead candidate, is currently in a Phase 3 registration trial as an adjunctive therapy to pembrolizumab for first-line treatment of advanced or metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma, utilizing the FDA's accelerated approval pathway under a Special Protocol Assessment agreement.
Through its June 2025 acquisition of Kineta, Inc., TuHURA acquired TBS-2025, a VISTA-inhibiting monoclonal antibody being developed for relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia with NPM1 mutations. VISTA is a checkpoint highly expressed on myeloid cells believed to be a primary mechanism of immune evasion in AML. The company plans to initiate a Phase 1b/2 trial in this patient population in the second half of 2026.
The company's third platform leverages Delta Opioid Receptor technology to develop bi-functional, bi-specific antibody-drug conjugates targeting myeloid-derived suppressor cells to modulate their immunosuppressive effects and prevent T cell exhaustion and acquired resistance to checkpoint inhibitors. This DOR technology was developed through collaboration with scientists at Moffitt Cancer Center and represents a novel approach to MDSC-targeted immunotherapy.
TuHURA's strategy emphasizes shortening development timelines through accelerated approval pathways, acquiring novel immunomodulatory technologies for blood-related cancers, and establishing development and commercial partnerships. The company's leadership includes a CEO with extensive biopharmaceutical industry experience spanning drug development, regulatory approval, and commercial execution across multiple therapeutic areas.
