Velo3D, Inc. (NASDAQ: VLD) is a production-focused metal additive manufacturing technology company that develops and manufactures advanced metal additive manufacturing systems and provides production and engineering services enabling customers to manufacture high-value metal parts at scale. The company's website is www.velo3d.com.
The company operates through two complementary business models: equipment sales consisting primarily of its Sapphire family of metal additive manufacturing systems and associated software, and production and engineering services delivered through its Rapid Production Solutions offering and Expert Services organization. For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, approximately 56 percent of revenue was derived from defense-related programs, 24 percent from aerospace and aviation programs, and the remaining 20 percent from energy, semiconductor and other industrial applications.
Velo3D's core technology platform combines Flow print preparation software, the Sapphire family of metal additive manufacturing systems, Assure quality assurance software, and the company's proprietary Intelligent Fusion manufacturing process. The Sapphire product line includes multiple generations of laser powder bed fusion systems with varying build chamber sizes, including the original Sapphire, Sapphire XC with extra capacity, and 1MZ variants with extended height capabilities. These systems support production of metal parts from sixteen different alloys including aluminum, titanium, nickel-alloys and stainless steel.
The company serves customers ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to Fortune 500 companies across space, aviation, defense, automotive, energy and industrial markets. Notable customers include RTX Corporation, Honeywell International, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Ursa Major Technologies and Lam Research Corporation. Velo3D's competitive strengths include its proprietary laser powder bed fusion technology capable of producing complex internal geometries without support structures, established relationships with blue chip customers, a fully integrated turnkey solution, deep intellectual property protections including 57 issued patents and 34 pending patent applications, and a capital-efficient business model emphasizing final assembly and testing rather than heavy manufacturing infrastructure.
