In the company’s own words
Vroom, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRM) operates as a holding company conducting automotive finance and digital services through its subsidiaries. The company website is www.vroom.com. Following a prepackaged Chapter 11 bankruptcy emergence in January 2025, Vroom has refocused its operations on two core business segments: UACC and CarStory.
UACC, an indirect automotive lender operating since 1996, offers vehicle financing to consumers through a network of motor vehicle dealers across 49 states, with particular focus on the non-prime credit market. As of December 31, 2025, UACC serviced approximately 76,000 retail installment sales contracts with an aggregate principal outstanding balance of approximately $950 million. The company provides four distinct lending programs including Preferred, Bankruptcy, Commercial, and Near-Prime programs, with financing available for new and used automobiles, trucks, and vans. UACC generates revenue through interest income on financed contracts, dealer fees, and ancillary products including Vehicle Service Contracts and Guaranteed Asset Protection products. The company funds its operations through warehouse credit facilities and securitization transactions, having completed 17 securitizations with over $3 billion in issued securities since 2012.
CarStory provides artificial intelligence-powered analytics and digital services to automotive retailers and financial services companies. Leveraging computer vision and proprietary algorithms, CarStory maintains a comprehensive used vehicle database encompassing over 256 million vehicle identification numbers, 203 million window stickers, and 4.2 billion vehicle photos. The platform generates the CarStory Real Market Price for vehicle valuations and offers pricing optimization, digital marketplace experiences, and trade-in appraisal products to dealers and consumers.
Vroom previously operated an ecommerce platform for buying and selling used vehicles but discontinued these operations in early 2024 through the Value Maximization Plan to preserve liquidity. The company completed its initial public offering in June 2020 and acquired CarStory in January 2021 and UACC in February 2022. As of December 31, 2025, Vroom employed 655 full-time associates across its operations.
