In the company’s own words
Workhorse Group Inc. (NASDAQ: WKHS) is a North American manufacturer of medium-duty electric trucks and buses focused on providing sustainable and cost-effective solutions to the commercial transportation sector. The company designs and manufactures all-electric vehicles and the technology that optimizes their operation, with products marketed under the Workhorse and Motiv brands. Workhorse's website is located at www.workhorse.com.
The company's vehicle portfolio addresses the entire Class 4-6 medium-duty trucking market, which represents approximately a $23 billion market opportunity. Current offerings include the Class 5/6 W56 Step Van and Stripped Chassis designed for last-mile delivery and high-payload work-truck applications, the legacy Motiv Class 5/6 stripped chassis, and the Class 4 EPIC4 platform available in shuttle bus, school bus, box truck, and work truck configurations. Workhorse vehicles are assembled at its Union City, Indiana production facility or through contract manufacturers using domestic and globally-sourced components.
The company completed a reverse merger with Motiv Power Systems, Inc. in December 2025, which broadened its product portfolio and created operational scale. This transaction resulted in Motive GM Holdings II LLC, Motiv's controlling stockholder, owning 68.3 percent of Workhorse's outstanding common stock. The merger was intended to achieve substantial cost synergies and transition production of all vehicles into the Workhorse facility during 2026.
Workhorse operates through multiple research and development facilities located in Wixom, Michigan; Foster City, California; and Sharonville, Ohio. The company also operates Stables by Workhorse, a fleet electrification initiative providing package pickup and delivery services through FedEx Ground delivery routes in the Cincinnati area, which generates firsthand data on electric vehicle deployment and operations.
As of December 31, 2025, Workhorse employed 148 full-time employees, with an additional 41 employees working under transition agreements. The company holds 97 patents with 61 pending and owns 21 trademarks with 6 pending. Workhorse offers complementary services including the Workhorse Connect telematics system, a certified dealer program for vehicle maintenance and support, and fleet management solutions through the Motiv Premier Partner Network.
