What WORLD ACCEPTANCE CORP does

In the company’s own words

World Acceptance Corporation (NASDAQ: WRLD) operates as one of the nation's largest small-loan consumer finance companies, providing short-term and medium-term installment loans to individuals with limited access to traditional credit sources. The company maintains a website at www.LoansByWorld.com and serves customers across sixteen states through a network of 1,009 branches as of March 31, 2026.

The company's core business centers on traditional installment loans ranging from $400 to $5,300, with an average loan origination of $2,015 in fiscal 2026. Interest and fee income from installment loans accounted for 82.9% of total revenues in fiscal 2026. World Acceptance serves a customer base that typically does not qualify for credit from banks, credit unions, or other traditional lenders, positioning itself in the highly fragmented installment loan finance segment where competition occurs primarily on customer relationships, service quality, and community reputation.

Beyond core lending, the company generates revenue through insurance-related operations, including credit life, accident and health, property and auto, unemployment, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance sold as an agent for unaffiliated carriers. The company operates a wholly-owned captive insurance subsidiary that reinsures a portion of credit insurance sold, contributing approximately $2.0 million to total revenue in fiscal 2026. Additionally, World Acceptance offers income tax return preparation and electronic filing services across substantially all branches, generating approximately $40.4 million in net revenue during fiscal 2026, along with interest-free tax advance loans and audit representation services through its Refund Assurance Plan.

The company employs 2,907 full and part-time employees, with 260 based at corporate headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina and the remainder distributed across branch locations. World Acceptance has continuously operated since July 1962 and maintains its competitive advantage through relatively larger size compared to independent operators, which increases access to capital and reduces borrowing costs. The company's business model emphasizes personal relationships with customers, refinancing of existing loans, and collection operations supported by multiple management levels and centralized collections teams.
