Vanguard Utilities Index Fund (the Fund) seeks to track the performance of a benchmark index that measures the investment return of utilities stocks.
The fund employs an indexing approach to track the MSCI US Investable Market Index (IMI)/Utilities 25/50, which comprises large, mid-size, and small U.S. utilities stocks including electric, gas, and water utilities, independent power producers, and renewable energy generators. It invests substantially all its assets in the stocks of the Target Index, holding each in approximately the same proportion as its weighting in the index. The fund is nondiversified, meaning it may invest a greater percentage of its assets in particular issuers than diversified funds do.
