Gold Portfolio seeks capital appreciation.
The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in securities of companies principally engaged in gold-related activities—including exploration, mining, processing, and dealing in gold—along with gold bullion, coins, and instruments whose value is linked to gold prices. Up to 25% of assets in gold and other precious metals are held through a wholly-owned Cayman Islands subsidiary rather than directly. The fund may also invest in silver, platinum, diamonds, and other precious metals, as well as securities of companies that manufacture precious metal products or invest in such companies. The adviser uses fundamental analysis of financial condition, industry position, and market conditions to select investments.
