AbbVie maintains a comprehensive product portfolio with leadership positions across four primary therapeutic areas: immunology, neuroscience, oncology, and aesthetics. The company operates integrated discovery and development teams comprising chemists, biologists, physicians, and pharmacologists, and supplements internal research efforts through partnerships with biotechnology companies, academic institutions, and strategic acquisitions. AbbVie's intellectual property portfolio includes thousands of patent families, with key patents covering risankizumab and upadacitinib expected to expire in 2033, providing substantial competitive protection for core products.
