In the company’s own words
Ambiq Micro, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMBQ) is a pioneer and leading provider of ultra-low power semiconductor solutions designed to address the significant power consumption challenges of general purpose and artificial intelligence compute, particularly at the edge. The company's website is https://ambiq.com.
The company's core technology is its proprietary Sub-threshold Power Optimized Technology (SPOT) platform, a ground-breaking chip design approach that delivers two to five times lower power consumption than conventional integrated circuit designs by incorporating sub- and near-threshold hardware without requiring expensive advanced manufacturing processes. This platform enables sophisticated edge AI capabilities while maintaining exceptional power efficiency, allowing devices to run larger AI models faster, add more sensors, reduce battery size, or extend battery life.
Ambiq's product portfolio centers on two flagship systems-on-chip (SoC) families. The Apollo family pairs rich peripheral sets with host processors capable of software-based or vector-accelerated AI computations and serves most edge AI use cases. The Atomiq family, currently in development, targets demanding edge AI compute requirements with a full neural processing unit for high-performance AI acceleration. The company complements its hardware with a comprehensive software stack including the AmbiqSuite Software Development Kit, feature enablement modules such as graphiqSPOT for graphics and blueSPOT for Bluetooth communications, and AI enablement tools including the Helia ecosystem and neuralSPOT SDK.
Ambiq's products power over 290 million devices today, with approximately eighty percent running AI algorithms in 2025. The company serves diverse markets including smartwatches, fitness trackers, augmented and virtual reality glasses, smart rings, digital health monitors, security systems, livestock tracking, crop monitoring, and factory automation. The company operates a fabless business model, partnering with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company for wafer fabrication and third-party contractors for packaging and testing.
As of December 31, 2025, Ambiq employed 202 full-time employees distributed across research and development, sales and marketing, and general administration functions. The company maintains engineering and sales operations in the United States, Europe, and Asia, with research and development teams located in Austin, California, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taiwan, and Singapore.
