The company operates through two primary business segments: Seed and Crop Protection. Major seed brands include Pioneer, Brevant, Dairyland Seed, Hoegemeyer, and Nutech, complemented by proprietary trait technologies such as ENLIST E3, PowerCore, and SMARTSTAX. The company's sales are seasonal, with approximately 60 percent generated in the first half of the calendar year, driven by northern hemisphere planting and growing seasons, and 40 percent in the second half, led by southern hemisphere seed sales. Corteva distributes its products through multiple channels including the Pioneer direct sales agency model, regional seed brands, retail storefronts, and third-party licensing arrangements.
The company maintains an extensive intellectual property portfolio comprising approximately 5,900 U.S. patents and 10,200 active patents outside the United States, along with approximately 11,900 trademark registrations.
