In the company’s own words
Duluth Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: DLTH) operates as a lifestyle brand specializing in men's and women's workwear, casual wear, outdoor apparel, and accessories sold primarily through an omnichannel platform at www.duluthtrading.com. The company was founded in 1989 when two brothers in the home construction industry invented the Bucket Boss, a durable canvas tool organizer, which evolved into the Duluth Trading catalog business. In 2000, GEMPLER'S Inc., an agricultural and horticultural supply company, acquired Duluth Trading, and following the 2003 sale of the GEMPLER'S catalog to W.W. Grainger, the parent company changed its name to Duluth Holdings Inc.
The company operates through a fully integrated omnichannel strategy encompassing retail stores, e-commerce, direct mail, and customer contact centers. As of February 1, 2026, Duluth Holdings operated 63 retail stores and three outlet stores across the United States. The company employs 746 full-time and 1,311 part-time and flexible part-time employees, with 1,101 employed at retail locations.
Duluth's product portfolio features proprietary designs and distinctive trademarks including Longtail T, Buck Naked underwear, Fire Hose work pants, DuluthFlex fabric technology, and No-Yank Tank. The company emphasizes solution-based design incorporating technical materials, sophisticated manufacturing methods, and innovative features such as underarm panels for mobility and triple-stitched seams for durability.
The company does not operate manufacturing facilities but instead sources products from third-party vendors globally, with concentrations in Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, and India. Approximately 57 percent of purchases are sourced directly from factories while 43 percent flow through agents. Duluth operates fulfillment centers in Belleville, Wisconsin; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Adairsville, Georgia, with plans to close the Salt Lake City facility in the first quarter of 2026.
The brand is nationally recognized for distinctive marketing combining humor with authentic product demonstrations. Duluth's marketing strategy employs a digitally-led, omnichannel approach utilizing performance digital and search, video and audio, social and influencer media, and direct mail to drive brand awareness and customer acquisition.
