What EyePoint, Inc. does
In the company’s own words
EyePoint Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: EYPT) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing innovative therapeutics for serious retinal diseases. The company leverages its proprietary bioerodible Durasert E technology platform for sustained intraocular drug delivery, enabling consistent therapeutic release over extended periods through a single intravitreal injection administered in a physician's office.
The company's lead product candidate, DURAVYU, combines vorolanib, a selective tyrosine kinase inhibitor, with the Durasert E delivery system to target vascular endothelial growth factor-mediated retinal diseases. DURAVYU is currently in Phase 3 pivotal trials for wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema, representing the two largest retinal disease markets. The company completed enrollment in its wet AMD Phase 3 trials, LUGANO and LUCIA, with topline data anticipated in mid-2026. The first patient was dosed in the Phase 3 DME program in February 2026. The company's pipeline also includes EYP-2301, razuprotafib formulated in Durasert E, in preclinical development for serious retinal diseases.
EyePoint's Durasert technology has been safely administered to thousands of patient eyes across four FDA-approved products. The bioerodible Durasert E formulation allows for higher drug payload delivery with complete bioabsorption, eliminating the need for surgical removal. Vorolanib's multi-mechanism of action addresses vascular permeability through VEGF receptor inhibition while providing anti-inflammatory effects through IL-6 and JAK-1 pathway inhibition, differentiating DURAVYU from existing anti-VEGF ligand-blocking therapies.
The company maintains manufacturing facilities in Watertown and Northbridge, Massachusetts, with a state-of-the-art facility in Northbridge supporting potential commercial launch preparations. EyePoint has established licensing agreements with Equinox Science for vorolanib intellectual property and with Betta Pharmaceuticals for Greater China commercialization rights. The company reported cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities of $306.1 million as of December 31, 2025, providing funding runway into the fourth quarter of 2027.
