What First Northwest Bancorp does

In the company’s own words

First Northwest Bancorp (NASDAQ: The Stock Market LLC) operates as a bank holding company through its wholly owned subsidiary First Fed Bank, a community-oriented commercial bank founded in 1923 in Port Angeles, Washington. The company provides comprehensive banking services including lending, deposit products, and money movement solutions to customers across Western Washington.

First Fed Bank operates through seventeen locations comprising twelve full-service branches and five business centers distributed across Clallam, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties. The bank's market area encompasses approximately 3.0 million people, representing 37.1% of Washington's population, with strategic expansion plans targeting the broader Puget Sound region.

The company's loan portfolio totaled $1.63 billion as of December 31, 2025, with diversified composition across multiple segments. Real estate loans represent the largest category at 69.4% of the portfolio, including one-to-four family residential mortgages at 23.1%, commercial real estate at 24.8%, multi-family properties at 17.7%, and construction and land loans at 3.8%. Consumer loans comprise 22.6% of the portfolio, encompassing home equity products, auto loans, and manufactured home financing. Commercial business loans account for 8.0% of the portfolio.

The bank emphasizes a balanced approach between loan origination and secondary market sales. Residential mortgages are originated for both portfolio retention and sale into secondary markets to generate gain-on-sale revenue and manage interest rate risk. The company has expanded its consumer lending through purchased auto loan programs and manufactured home financing partnerships, while maintaining traditional origination of commercial real estate, multi-family, and business loans.

Deposits serve as the primary funding source for lending and investment activities. First Northwest maintains non-banking investments including limited partnership interests in fintech-focused funds such as Canapi Ventures Fund, LP and BankTech Ventures, LP, as well as equity interests in investment advisory and private lending entities focused on lower-middle market businesses in the Pacific Northwest. The company is regulated by the Federal Reserve, with First Fed Bank subject to examination by the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
