In the company’s own words
IPG Photonics Corporation (Nasdaq: IPGP) is a global leader in the design, manufacture and sale of high-performance fiber lasers, fiber amplifiers, diode lasers and laser-based systems used across diverse applications in materials processing, medical procedures and advanced applications. The company's website is www.ipgphotonics.com.
Founded in 1990 and incorporated in Delaware in 1998, IPG operates as a vertically integrated manufacturer, designing and producing most key components used in its finished products, from semiconductor diodes to optical fiber preforms. This integration strategy enables the company to control quality, accelerate product development and protect proprietary technology. The company's fiber lasers combine the advantages of semiconductor diodes with the amplification and beam qualities of specialty optical fibers to deliver superior performance and reliability compared to alternative laser technologies.
IPG's product portfolio spans medium and high output power lasers ranging from 0.148 to 20 microns in wavelength, available in continuous wave, quasi-continuous wave and pulsed configurations including nanosecond, picosecond and femtosecond variants. The company also manufactures complementary products including optical delivery cables, fiber couplers, beam switches and chillers, as well as integrated laser systems and laser-based medical systems.
For fiscal year 2025, materials processing represented 85.7 percent of revenue, medical procedures accounted for 7.4 percent and advanced applications comprised 6.9 percent. High power continuous wave lasers contributed 31 percent of revenue while pulsed lasers represented 14 percent. Laser and non-laser systems generated 15 percent of revenues.
The company operates major manufacturing facilities in the United States and Germany with sales and service offices and application development centers across the Americas, Europe and Asia. As of December 31, 2025, IPG employed approximately 4,840 full-time employees distributed across more than thirty locations in twenty-four countries, with approximately 2,070 employees in the United States and 1,650 in Germany. The company maintains a diverse global customer base including original equipment manufacturers, system integrators and end users across thousands of customers worldwide.
