Landstar System, Inc. (Nasdaq: LSTR) is an asset-light transportation and logistics provider that arranges freight shipments through a network of independent sales agents, third-party capacity providers and employees. It serves shippers across North America and connects them with truck, rail, air and ocean transportation, as well as expedited, heavy-haul, temperature-controlled, hazardous-materials, cross-border and customs brokerage services. Customers span industries including automotive, building products, chemicals, food, retail and defense, and include large shippers, third-party logistics providers and other transportation companies. Landstar reports two segments: transportation logistics, which provides freight and logistics services, and insurance, which manages claims and reinsures certain risks associated with its independent contractors; insurance represented about 1% of consolidated revenue in fiscal 2025. Truck transportation generated 91% of consolidated revenue in fiscal 2025. The company’s network included approximately 960 independent sales agents and more than 70,000 third-party capacity providers, and consolidated revenue was $4.7 billion in fiscal 2025.
